Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll have noticed that it’s really not enough these days to upload your song on the interweb somewhere and hope that somebody 1) finds it and, 2) buys it.  With the shear volume of new material being uploaded every minute, unless you already have a well established presence, the chances are that no bugger will find it at all.

So, how do you fix that? Well, the key to getting yourself heard (and therefore driving up attendance at your gigs and increasing the potential for more sales of your music and/or merchandise) is by connecting with your fans and interacting with them on a regular basis.  It’s not rocket science. In fact, it’s simple human nature when you think about it. You need to create and nurture fan loyalty and, in doing that, you’ll find that your fans will then start to work for you. Making the community your primary focus rather than the number of downloads or album sales will invariably begin to create a buzz about your band in the local scene and let’s face it, the local scene is the first step on the way towards your dream.

So, that’s where MuseZu comes in (or will do when we’ve got our act together). Right now we’re a simply music blog, created by a group of local San Francisco Bay Area musicians. We review gigs, bands, venues, tuneage and also offer up tips to others who may be in the same boat as us. But we’re a bunch of musicians on a mission and, coming soon, MuseZu will offer up some great tools and services to help local musicians and venues make that important connection with their community a little easier.

We’re not quite there yet, but once we’ve worked out which end is up, then you’ll be the first to know. In the meantime, do what you do best and, to quote a well-known music industry adage…don’t suck :)
